<p><span id="more-22"></span>Bed rest is given in the later stages of a pregnancy because it is at this time that the position of the cervix changes. A bed rest prescription will require you to be in bed most of the hours. Some activities such as traveling and shopping are suspended. Some pregnant women are given bed rest at home and others are admitted in hospitals. A pregnant woman in bed rest tends to feel lonely especially if she has been having problems with her pregnancy.</p>
<p>Friends and family should be the people who a pregnant woman depends on for support during bed rest. Such people will help you stay positive about the bed rest and how worth while it is. Another way a pregnant mother can deal with bed rest emotionally is by reading books on bed rest. These types of books come with detailed advantages of bed rest, and once a pregnant woman reads through them she will feel at ease. Such a book will even motivate her and make her get lifted spiritually.</p>
<p>Entertainment is another way in which a pregnant woman can get her mind off the stresses of bed rest. She should have a right to watch or listen to what she likes. Some soothing songs and a nice movie will help her forget much of the bed rest.</p>
<p>A pregnant woman in bed rest will feel a little bit disappointed and may wish that she could have done some things differently. This feeling causes her to feel less in control of her body, such a situation should be explained to the doctor or even spouse, basically anyone she would love to share with. During bed rest a woman may suffer from anguish especially if she finds out that her pregnancy is not normal. This situation will bring about tension, mood swings and also insomnia. A pregnant woman should not however take bed rest as a punishment or a time to mourn; she should focus on how much good it is going to be for her during delivery.</p>

<p><span id="more-19"></span> During this time medication should be avoided because it’s at this time that the fetus is forming and developing body systems such as the heart and the brain.</p>
<p>Safe drugs can however be prescribed by a doctor to a pregnant woman.Anti depressant medicines are the most commonly used drugs by common women. With a doctors advice on a certain prescription there may be need to take it, because in some cases lack of these drugs will greatly affect the mother and put the baby in a vulnerable state.</p>
<p>Some women have had complications and heavy bleeding during child birth because of taking the aspirin drug. Some drugs, however, affect a baby depending on which part of development the baby has reached. For this reason doctors have categorized prescription drugs for pregnant women in the stages of pregnancy.</p>
<p>Drugs like thalidomide are hazardous because they are known to cause limb problems in the baby and in some cases heart disease. Some herbal supplements are also safe to be taken by a pregnant woman, check with a doctor and let him notify you if the medication is really necessary.</p>
